Embrace Serendipity
I hate throwing Amaretto Disaronno bottles away. They are so beautiful. I experimented with glass paints and acrylics but couldn’t get the effect I wanted. Air dry clay was perfect but it didn’t adhere to the glass easily.
So I resorted to my papier-mâché technique. I first painted a mixture of white glue and water (half and half) all over the bottle. Then I applied two layers of paper handkerchiefs. Whilst still damp the cut out shapes of airdry clay were pressed into place.
After drying the whole bottle was painted in black .
Once dry I lightly brushed a little gold paint over the raised areas.
Serendipity? Look at the texture?
As the bottle dried the paper handkerchiefs wrinkled giving this lovely but unexpected effect.

I used an empty jar of peaches to make this little pottery hiuse. I use one in the kitchen as a container for sugar. Another decorates a table in the garden. #garden-decor #kitchendecor # jumblehouse #umbria #rustic-gardens #decorativebottles
