🏡✨ Home is where the Gnome is!
Meet our cheerful wicker guardian, who has traveled from Jumble House to join the quirky family here at Serendipity. 🌿🎨 Crafted with love he embodies the spirit of every season.
I love Gnomes and I love making them.  I also love upcycling and our guy here was made from a rather tatty wicker basket , a football with no puff, and left over artificial foliage, and tights!  Not forgetting, of course, a mop head for the beard.
I made him about five years ago and he is aging well.  Better than me   After him came many more, big and small.
A couple, I think can still be seen outside Jumble House.

But he did have a very large ‘friend’, ’brother’ or  ‘cousin’ who, unfortunately fell foul of the inclement weather but I still have a photo .

Another Serendipity make. A large homemade gnome made from upscycled materials sat outside Jumble House. The Gnome is h9lding a guitar.

But don’t be sad.  Our Gnome has a new friend to keep him company and I’m sure soon he will overcome whatever is ailing him and reappear, fresher, rejuvenated and playing a new tune!

Absolutely! Laughter truly is the best medicine.

"When life gets mooo-dy, just add a hat and some laughter!

During the Covid lockdown, I found myself with an abundance of spare time and a craving for some light-hearted relief. That’s when I began creating my more whimsical papier-mâché sculptures. As my collection grew, Jumble House started to feel a bit cramped, so I decided to take the fun outdoors. Not only did this give us more space, but it also provided the neighbors with a reason to smile.

Even now, just looking at those quirky creations lifts my spirits and reminds me of the joy that art and laughter can bring.

A perfect day

Like the song says, it has been a perfect day.  Glorious sunshine so we could work and relax outside.  Then an hour ago just a sprinkling of rain. Not sufficient to spoil  the evening but enough  so I did not need to water the garden!

Easter Decor

Easter is not just a delightful holiday, but one of my absolute favorites as a creator! Over the years, I have enjoyed producing numerous decor pieces for both outdoor and indoor displays that truly capture the essence of this cheerful season. Easter evokes vivid images of fluffy bunnies hopping about, adorable chicks breaking free from their shells, beautifully decorated eggs hidden amongst soft grass, and blooming flowers bursting with colour.

Why should kids have all the fun?

Shaving foam and food colouring create a delightful, messy experience that’s pure joy! But when you add coffee to the mix, it becomes truly incredible. The rich colors, unique texture, and enticing aroma come together to spark creativity. The resulting pieces can be mounted for display, transforming them into eye-catching art. Plus, smaller sections make fantastic postcards, birthday cards, or even unique bases for your drawings. Embrace the chaos and let your imagination run wild!

Abstract coffee painting.

Excited to share my latest project!  I’m creating a series of tiles that beautifully capture the essence of sunsets, perfect for both indoor and outdoor patio. Or simply as indoor decor.  With the addition of felt on the back, they make colourful table centres..

It is a creative way to express my appreciation for nature and bring the warmth and vibrant colours of those stunning sunsets into your home.

Discover the art of Coffee Painting

Join me in this captivating video where I transform a simple canvas using an unexpected medium: coffee!
I created this video to inspire and encourage others to explore their artistic side and give this fun technique a try.

My journey with coffee painting began during the COVID lockdown. With acrylics running low, my creative curiosity pushed me to experiment with various alternative materials—from onion skins to spinach, English tea to green tea. While each option had its charm, coffee quickly emerged as my favorite. The blend of its delightful aroma, rich hues, and glossy finish is simply divine!

Initially, I started my coffee painting adventure on watercolor paper, but I soon moved on to experimenting with canvas and even pottery plates! Once I immersed myself in this process, there was no looking back. To add complexity and vibrancy to my palette, I began incorporating green tea, and the discovery of saffron introduced beautiful orange tones.

What’s fascinating about coffee painting is that different coffee varieties yield distinct shades. To achieve those deep, rich colors, it's crucial to start with a well-prepared thick mixture. This can either be done by boiling down your brewed coffee or, for an easier approach, by mixing instant coffee into a shot of espresso.

I’ll soon be posting a tutorial video that covers the basics of coffee painting. Stay tuned, and let art enhance your coffee experience!
