Easter fun
Easter is not just a delightful holiday, but one of my absolute favorites as a creator! Over the years, I have enjoyed producing numerous decor pieces for both outdoor and indoor displays that truly capture the essence of this cheerful season. Easter evokes vivid images of fluffy bunnies hopping about, adorable chicks breaking free from their shells, beautifully decorated eggs hidden amongst soft grass, and blooming flowers bursting with colour.
For me, Easter heralds the beginning of spring and a perfect opportunity to cast off the drabness of winter and immerse ourselves in the increasing warmth of longer days.
It is a time for craving outdoor activities such as country walks and visits to garden centres. A time for spring cleaning and bringing new colour and light into our homes. and gardens. I love being outside, especially in the spring and one of my favourite projects is creating whimsical outdoor displays. Take a cue from my large Easter Bunny, a papier-mâché sculpture topped with a weather-resistant spray to brave the elements.

“BIG BIRD “
Made with our eldest daughter in mind. She fell in love with ‘Big Bird’ and the movie ‘Big Bird in China’ Ias a child. Again, a papier-mâché sculpture adorned with feathers. Adding the feathers was the tricky part. Every single one had to be patiently inserted into tiny holes made on the head and body. This sculpture is definitely for indoors. Outside he would definitely fly off!

Crazy Bird!
Since I create art for my own enjoyment and for the enjoyment of others, you will find that most of my pieces have an element of fun. Even the more serious ones.
Here, another smaller papier-mâché sculpture.
The feet have an aluminium foil base wrapped with masking tape and then covered in papier-mâché and painted. The decoration is achieved by dribbling hot glue. The result? A bird looking rather surprised at the appearance of eggs!

Fun!
No papier-mâché this time.
Simply a football head wrapped in electric tape and acrylic markers used to draw on the face features.
The body is a coffee tin wrapped in fabric and to make the skirt I stuck on hydrangea flowers. Arms and legs are ribbon wrapped cardboard inner tubes from clingfilm wrapper.

All that glitters
Very different !
Away from my usual papier-mâché!
This piece is made entirely from balls and coils of aluminium foil. The base is a glass wine ‘bell-joy’. The head is a small polystyrene ball. Rolling hundreds of small tinfoil balls is mind numbing! I would recommend undergoing this task while occupied in something more interesting like watching TV.
I keep this activity for long car trips. As a passenger of course . It also keeps me awake so has an additional benefit.
The balls are attached using hot glue.
the flat discs I used to cover the face are simply balls squashed firmly with the hand or hammer.
